ARTIST’S PROFILEThe Pwerle Sisters(Molly- Emily- Galya) When Minnie Pwerle passed away in March 2006- she left a legacy of artworks memorable for their amazing colour and flowing imagery. Three of her sisters are carrying on the tradition of Minnie’s depiction of the art of Utopia- each with their own individual style but all boldly displaying the same inspiration and zest for art and their culture and love of their country. In 2004 Molly- Emily and Galya Pwerle began painting together with their famous sister Minnie. Aged from 80-90 they- like Minnie- have lived a Traditional life in their desert homeland of Irrultja- a tiny settlement in Utopia of about 100 people- with very little real exposure to the rigours of western culture. Each lady produces artworks possessing an illusive magic hard to define- full of colour and movement and fluid execution. Collectors world-wide are still amazed- as they were with the works of the late Emily Kngwarreye and Minnie- that such modern images could possibly

ARTIST PROFILE Jock Mosquito Jock was born on Nicholson Station bordering on desert country and situated over the Northern Territory border from Kununurra (East Kimberley) where Jock now resides (Kununurra and Warmun Community). He spent his working life based at Nicholson- and like other stockmen of his day- mustered on surrounding stations – the best of his profession were valued and the station owners provided them with as much work as they wished as mustering time varied throughout the region. He did not ever know his mother – his father and grandmother “grew him up” (raised him). He had the opportunity to go to Beagle Bay for schooling- but his father and grandmother did not wish him to go – a fact which he has regretted all his life. Jock has often commented “If I had spent more time in school than the stockcamp- I would be a lot better off”. With no formal education- Jock has avidly participated in important cultural and business matters in his country. He was Chairperson of

Mark is well educated and a wonderful ambassador for his Community and the traditional ochre art of the area. He has been taught the stories of his land by his mother- artist Nancy Nodea- and paints her country- Texas Downs- and his father’s country around Cherabun Station. Mark's father is Hanson Boxer- a Walmajarrie man- and this enables Mark to extend his content to embrace both Kitja land and his father's country around Yakanarra (an excision of Go Go Station via Fitzroy Crossing) and Cherabun Station. His minimal and sometimes flamboyant style gives him scope for large works. Mark's design won the 2002 Royal Australian Mint International Award for Pure Silver Collector Coin. The Royal Australian Mint has only released ten such coins since 1983. He has participated in Group Exhibitions and his first Solo in September 2003 at the prestigious Alison Kelly
