Upon arrival at the establishment, you will be greeted by cheese expert Claudia McIntosh to enjoy a glass of bubbles in the award winning bar with other participants of the cheese experience. You will then be escorted to the private dining room to be seated around a fully laid table complete with fabulous cheese, wine, cheese accompaniments and tasting notes. Over a two hour period, we will taste cheese of various flavours, styles and milk types such as goat, sheep, cow and buffalo cheese and experiment with basic cheese and wine pairings. We specialise in the education and appreciation of artisan and farmhouse cheeses produced by the best cheese-makers from Australia and around the world. Our unique courses showcase exceptional cheese and are accompanied by a variety of fine wines. Over four consecutive weeks, one night each week, you and a classroom of other interested people will gather the knowledge that enables you to appreciate wine like never before Each evening will be run by an industry professional who will guide you through the four-week course. Six wines are tasted each evening and student participation should be expected. In lesson one you will be shown how to use your senses of sight, smell and taste to grade a wine. In lesson two you will learn why wines cost what they do and who makes all the money. We also cover grape growing, wine making and marketing. In lesson three students will get the chance to concentrate on white wines, the styles and varieties as well as the white wine making process. In lesson four we will cover red wines, again looking at styles and varieties, as well as the extra techniques used when making red wines. On the day of your winery tour, you will be collected from your accommodation before setting off for a full day in the picturesque wine regions of McLaren Vale and the Adelaide Hills. Our first stop is at Blessed Cheese in McLaren Vale for morning tea. Following morning tea, the first winery we visit is Fox Creek Winery and their state of the art winemaking facility. Whilst there, you ll embark on a premium wine tasting experience in their quaint cellar door. We next visit The Olive Grove where we sample olives, olive oils and also their range of Lloyd Bros wines on offer. From there, we head to Woodstock Winery & Coterie as this is our venue for a delectable 2-course lunch which includes their delicious regional platter and soup (in winter) or dessert (in summer).
