ARTIST PROFILE Connie Collins Nungarai Connie was born at Yuendumu- NT. She now resides in Kununurra- East Kimberley- with frequent visits back to her home country. She is a meticulous artist with a most distinctive style – Connie’s immediate family include the best of the Walpiri painters- who have made a huge impression on the world of aboriginal art. They are known for their bright but traditional intricate artworks. Connie is the niece of Michael Nelson Jagamarra- one of Australia’s best known international artists – he was commissioned to execute the design for the breathtaking mural at the Sydney Opera House. Her subject matter is wide but like many of the desert artists- focuses on food gathering- bush tucker and traditional dreaming stories. Less

It is obvious that he has never followed in anyone’s footsteps – his works are most definitely by Tommy Carroll. The paintings flow with the landscape – from minimal yet precise black and white to vibrant reds and bright yellow to the softer black/brown/green of his grandfather- Paddy Carroll’s country.
