Oh man, $30 for these?

Date of Review: Jun 29, 2007

The Bottom Line:  Great speakers, great value, best 2.1 speaker system for under $50
The tons of thrift store and generic speakers breaking, and a passing interest in recording justified my spending of a whopping $30 to get these speakers oem, but new. Now from a reviewer who does his research even before spending as little amount as $30, I can tell you that I found these speakers to be the best value for under $50, let alone for what I got them for.

Sound:
These speakers have wonderful highs and booming bass. There is a volume knob to control the sound, and a bass knob on the sub to control the bass output. I use an equalizer setting to actually reduce the bass and strengthen the mids to balance everything out. They blow even the best of the thrift store speakers out of the water, as well as the cyber acoustic 2.1 speakers set that cost $50. The clarity of the sound works great for my recording needs as I can actually hear the different spectrums of sound to edit. This is also great for games, movies, music etc. This is loud enough to use as a living room set of speakers for a family entertainment center, or a bedroom system.

Quality: The sub is built of quality wood and the satellites are built of dense plastic. I'm extremely confident that these speakers will hold up for quite a while. I think that the solid construction of the subwoofer gives it the great depth.

Look: The black speakers look great with my black lcd monitor, they also look much less boring than the beige speakers I'm used to and the square-ish cyber acoustic speakers. The satellites have a rounded look with two speakers vertically aligned and a fabric protecting the speakers from dust. I feel that my bedroom presents a somewhat more professional look than before with these slick speakers sitting on my desk.

Function:
As mentioned earlier, the subwoofer has a control to control the bass level, and the right speaker has a control to control the volume. The right speaker also has a headphone out and an on/off switch. The only complaints I have with it's function is that 1: the headphones are not controlled by the speaker's volume control, so I have to go into control panel to reduce the volume if I want to use headphones and 2: the left speaker is not plugged into the right speakers, instead the cable goes into the body of the right and the two speakers are inseparable, so if the left on falls or something, and the cable breaks, well that's not so good. I doubt this will happen, but just in case it would have been nice. Oh, and don't let me forget that they come with a rca cable to connect the speakers with a video game system or dvd player.

Cost/Value: As I mentioned earlier as of June 2007, these are the best 2.1 speaker system for the price, period. I got them for $30 during some weekend special, and I see they're currently at $38 for the oem, but they'll lower it soon I'm sure, and even at $38, thats still an extremely good deal for a great set of speakers.

I'm very satisfied with my purchase. I'll let the 546 of five star ratings from newegg.com be my witness that this is the best 2.1 speaker system for under $50

Thanks for reading my review, I hope it was of use. Please comment with any questions/suggestions that you may have.

Thanks
