The Nikon D700 SLR Digital Camera brings professional imaging with a full frame image sensor to a lightweight yet durable camera body. It features the exclusive 12.1 Megapixel FX-format CMOS sensor, measuring 23.9 x 36mm, which is nearly identical to the size of a 35mm film frame - thereby eliminating any significant crop factor or focal length multiplier. Images taken with the D700 exhibit exceptional overall quality, broad tonal range and depth, along with extremely low-noise throughout its expansive ISO range of 200 to 6400. Nikon's exclusive EXPEED Image Processing System is central to driving the speed and processing power needed for many of the camera's features; such as the 51-point auto focus system and speedy 5 fps frame advance, and the camera incorporates many of the features that have made point-and-shoot digital cameras so popular - such as Live View, Auto ISO, and in-camera image enhancement. D2hs for special use only

by teiladay , Dec 13, 2005
Pros: Super fast frame rate 8fps & huge buffer even in RAW
Cons: only 4mp if you're wanting large prints.
The Bottom Line: This is a PROFESSIONAL camera for SPECIFIC professionals. This camera is for the sports, wedding, and internet shooter... people who need speed opposed to megapixels.
This reviewer recommends this product.
Review: We've been shooting Nikon digitals since 1997. I find the D2hs a wonderful camera. I would not purchase the D2H, due to the new D200. The D2hs I would currently still recommend for those shooters who need high speed focusing and really high frame...

Best DSLR in the Free World

by sailingshot , Jul 29, 2008
Pros: Build, IQ, speed, ISO range, low cost for this level, viewfinder, everything
Cons: AF system will befuddle some users. CF door feels a bit weak.
The Bottom Line: A great DSLR, probably the best on the market, designed 100% for professional applications.
This reviewer recommends this product.
Review: THE D700-WHAT IS IT?
This is the newest FX full 35mm sized sensor based camera from Nikon. Like the Canon 5D, it's a full frame camera in a standard SLR sized body. It will shoot 5 FPS at 14 bit. Add the optional portrait grip and you'll now...

A D3 in D300 clothing. a great camera but not a great value

by ehwang , Sep 21, 2008
Pros: Great image quality. High speed, low noise. No focal-length factors. Weatherproof. Smaller than D3.
Cons: Price. You could buy 2 D300s for one D700. DX lenses crop to 5.1 megapixel
The Bottom Line: D3 owners: this is your second body. Film holdouts: this camera is an excellent upgrade. DX sensor camera owners: A high price to pay for great image quality.
This reviewer recommends this product.
Review: I bought the D700 as my primary camera and relegated my D300 to backup status. All I really wanted was a second body but in hindsight I think the D700 is overpriced for the image quality improvements and the few additional features it...
